Overview

You will own the design, deployment, and maintenance of Tait radio systems for clients across Portland, ensuring mission-critical communications run without failure. You will work with a team of engineers and project managers, directly interfacing with clients to define requirements and deliver solutions. What You'll Do7

  • 1Design Tait radio network architectures, including coverage and capacity planning, for new and existing client sites.
  • 2Install and configure Tait base stations, repeaters, and consoles, ensuring alignment with specifications.
  • 3Program and test portable and mobile Tait radios, including encryption and trunking features.
  • 4Troubleshoot and resolve RF interference, coverage gaps, and hardware failures using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • 5Lead on-site commissioning and acceptance testing for Tait systems, documenting results and delivering training to client staff.
  • 6Collaborate with project managers to scope tasks, estimate timelines, and communicate technical status to stakeholders.
  • 7Maintain and update system documentation, including schematics and configuration records.

Requirements6

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience with Tait radio systems in a field engineering role.
  • 2Deep knowledge of Tait products, including DMR and P25 protocols.
  • 3Proficiency in RF theory, antenna systems, and propagation modeling.
  • 4Experience with network management software and radio programming tools.
  • 5Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • 6Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites in the Portland metro area.
