Field Service Technician II - Wireless Systems | BearCom
Overview
You'll install and support wireless communication systems for BearCom, the largest distributor of wireless voice, data, and video solutions in North America. With 75+ branches and partnerships with Motorola, JVC Kenwood, and Avigilon, you'll handle UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, BDA/DAS systems, and more. Your expertise in RF theory and test equipment will drive customer satisfaction. This role offers extensive on-the-job training and certification support, setting it apart from typical technician positions.
What You'll Do8
- 1Program mid-level codeplugs with 12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones using MOTOTRBO software.
- 2Install and service UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, and BDA/DAS systems.
- 3Troubleshoot and repair RF equipment including base stations, repeaters, and microwave systems.
- 4Configure wireless broadband devices and CCTV equipment for customer sites.
- 5Recommend appropriate hardware to meet customer needs and specifications.
- 6Perform system tests using spectrum analyzers, wattmeters, TDRs, and FDRs.
- 7Document service activities and maintain accurate records for each job.
- 8Travel regionally and participate in on-call rotations as required.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, or Vertex equipment.
- 2Proficient in 2-way radio theory and RF propagation at various frequency bands.
- 3Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
- 4Knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, and duplexers.
- 5Proficiency with TCP/IP and NIC programming.
- 6Skilled in operating spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, wattmeters, TDRs, FDRs, and multimeters.
- 7Experience designing, troubleshooting, and installing DAS and BDA systems.
- 8Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- 9CET certification preferred; journeyman level attained within 6 months.
- 10Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug and background checks.
