System Float Labor & Delivery RN - Days
Overview
As a System Float RN in Labor & Delivery, you will provide skilled nursing care across multiple Henry Ford Health locations, stepping in where staffing needs arise. You will handle a variety of nursing situations, from routine assessments to critical interventions, while floating between units to cover leaves, call-ins, census spikes, and vacations. This role offers flexibility with self-scheduling and premium pay, with a minimum commitment of 72 hours per month. You will join a dynamic float pool that exposes you to diverse clinical settings, enhancing your adaptability and expertise in maternal-child health.
What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including fetal monitoring, labor support, and postpartum care, across multiple Henry Ford Health campuses.
- 2Assess patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions, using C-EFM and NRP protocols to ensure safe outcomes.
- 3Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans for high-risk obstetric patients.
- 4Float to various units as assigned, adapting quickly to different patient populations and care environments.
- 5Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records.
- 6Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to provide education and emotional support.
- 7Respond to emergency situations, including crashes and resuscitations, using ACLS and BLS skills.
- 8Maintain compliance with infection control and safety standards, including TB and vaccine requirements.
Requirements9
- 12-3 years of recent clinical nursing experience in Labor & Delivery.
- 2Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- 3Current Michigan RN license.
- 4Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- 5Current NRP and C-EFM (Inteleos or NCC) certifications.
- 6Willingness to float to multiple locations across the health system.
- 7Clinical knowledge and analytical skills to formulate effective care plans.
- 8Ability to perform a wide range of professional nursing services.
- 9Effective communication with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
