Surgical Technologist CST - Aspen Surgery Center
Overview
You will own the sterile field for surgical procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center, covering CST-led scrubbing across orthopedics, ENT, and general surgery. You'll work directly with surgeons and RNs under the OR Manager, preparing instruments, equipment, and patients for each case. With 1-2+ years in the OR and a CST certification, you'll ensure aseptic technique and patient safety from room setup to post-op transfer. What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment for each procedure, setting up sterile drapes, solutions, and instrument trays per surgeon preference cards.
- 2Assemble and check both sterile and non-sterile equipment, verifying functionality before every case, including laparoscopic towers and electrosurgical units.
- 3Position patients on the operating table and apply sterile drapes to maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
- 4Pass instruments, hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts during surgery.
- 5Operate sterilizers, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment while documenting all activities accurately.
- 6Handle specimens for lab analysis and apply dressings as directed, ensuring proper labeling and transport.
- 7Transfer patients to recovery and clean and restock the OR, verifying inventory for next-day cases.
- 8Demonstrate aseptic technique and infection control practices per OSHA and center policies in every case.
- 9Participate in continuing education and maintain BLS certification within 60 days of hire.
Requirements9
- 1Graduate of an approved surgical technician program
- 2CST certification preferred
- 31-2 years experience in the Operating Room
- 4Ability to achieve Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire
- 5High school diploma or equivalent
- 6Demonstrated verbal and written English skills for safe patient care and documentation
- 7Ability to stand for long periods and lift or turn patients
- 8Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles
- 9Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
