Surgery Scheduling Coordinator, Ophthalmology & Patient Scheduling
Overview
Surgery Scheduling Coordinator at Texas Retina Associates will own surgical scheduling for inpatient and outpatient procedures across our Dallas office and network. You will work closely with physicians, hospitals, and patients to coordinate care, verify insurance, and ensure accurate documentation. This role emphasizes patient communication, accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding, and timely case management within a doctor-owned ophthalmology group. What You'll Do7
- 1Build patient schedules for inpatient and outpatient surgeries and coordinate with hospital centers
- 2Design preop and postop workflows and ensure clear patient instructions are communicated
- 3Lead insurance verifications and authorizations and ensure complete documentation before surgery
- 4Ship surgical documents and input patient information into EMR and post-surgery data
- 5Own preop testing, clearances, and scheduling alignment with surgeon preferences
- 6Drive communication between physicians, hospital departments, and patients to avert delays
- 7Manage ICD-10 and CPT coding accuracy and assist with revenue cycle tasks
Requirements8
- 1Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- 2Experience: 2+ years medical practice experience; experience as a Surgical Coordinator preferred
- 3Systems: Demonstrated computer skills; NextGen and Phreesia experience preferred
- 4Coding: Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
- 5Insurance: Insurance verification experience a plus
- 6Skills: Ability to multitask, superior customer service, English proficiency; bilingual a plus
- 7Training: Must complete required training within 90 days of hire
- 8Capabilities: Able to work under pressure and maintain accuracy in a fast-changing environment
