Join MD Anderson's Department of Stem Cell Transplantation, one of the world's largest programs for stem cell and cellular therapy, treating advanced blood cancers. As an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA), you will own patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. What You'll Do7
- 1Manage patients undergoing stem cell transplantation, including pre-transplant workup, inpatient care, and outpatient follow-up, delivering chemotherapy and cellular therapy.
- 2Perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret lab tests and imaging, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
- 3Prescribe medications, manage immunosuppression and supportive care, and monitor for complications like GVHD and infections.
- 4Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment options, and side effect management, ensuring informed consent and adherence.
- 5Coordinate care across the continuum, including transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings, and with cell processing lab for stem cell collection and infusion.
- 6Document patient encounters in EPIC, participate in daily rounds, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- 7Advocate for patient safety and navigate the healthcare system to streamline access to services and support.
Requirements7
- 11+ years as an APRN or PA in hematology/oncology, stem cell transplant, or cellular therapy; new graduates welcome.
- 2APRN: Valid Texas RN license and APRN authorization, or eligible; BLS certification; PALS if in pediatric units.
- 3PA: NCCPA certification and Texas PA license, or eligible; BLS required, ACLS/PALS if in pediatric units.
- 4Strong analytical and clinical decision-making skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- 5Comfort with both inpatient and outpatient settings, including on-call and weekend coverage as needed.
- 6Excellent communication and patient education skills, with a commitment to advocacy and teamwork.
- 7Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure as per Texas regulations.
