Overview
Design analyze build and test high performance turbomachinery within a fast paced agile team. Own hardware manufacturability low cost and high reliability. Deliver solutions for liquid rocket engines and turbopumps.
What You'll Do6
- 1Design turbomachinery components for a high performance liquid rocket engine
- 2Perform 1-D sizing and detailed flowpath design for liquid inducers stators and impellers as well as hot gas turbine rotors and stators
- 3Size and design secondary fluid flowpaths for bearings seals and coolant paths
- 4Conduct detailed structural analysis of turbomachinery components
- 5Collaborate with design and build teams to ensure manufacturability manufacturability low cost and high reliability
- 6Partner with build and test teams to guarantee turbopump manufacturing and testing success
Requirements15
- 1Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- 27+ years of relevant turbomachinery experience
- 3Proficiency in basic principles of fluids thermodynamics heat transfer mechanics and materials
- 4Demonstrated experience with fluids and structural analysis software
- 5Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices
- 6Familiarity with turbopump assembly procedures rotor balancing interference fits and clearance checks
- 7Ability to take project ownership and work effectively in small teams
- 8Master’s degree or higher in aerospace mechanical or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and practical applications
- 9Strong proficiency in fluids modeling of compressible and incompressible flow
- 10Experience in manufacturing and test of stationary and rotating turbomachinery components
- 11Background in turbopump bearings seals and assembly processes
- 12Skill in performing turbomachinery analyses such as bladed CFD structural modal and rotordynamics
- 13Experience designing bladed turbopump components like inducers impellers and turbines
- 14Knowledge of stationary and rotating turbomachinery manufacturing
- 15Familiarity with rotor-dynamic analysis and considerations
