Overview

You will lead after-school sports and fitness programs for K-12 students at partner schools across Philadelphia, delivering 1-4 hours of instruction per week per assignment. You will own the in-class experience, turning structured lesson plans into energetic, skill-building sessions that get students moving and learning teamwork. Your work directly supports student confidence, physical literacy, and lifelong healthy habits, while you partner with school staff and Concorde Education coordinators to ensure every session runs smoothly. What You'll Do7

  • 1Deliver engaging, age-appropriate sports and fitness instruction using provided curriculum or your own activities, with a focus on skills like volleyball, basketball, and soccer.
  • 2Prepare for each session by reviewing lesson plans and tailoring activities to the group's age, ability, and experience, ensuring every student participates.
  • 3Foster a positive, respectful, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and goal setting, adapting on the fly to keep all students engaged.
  • 4Maintain active supervision and enforce safety rules during all activities, including bodyweight exercises, yoga, and team challenges, to prevent injuries and ensure a secure setting.
  • 5Communicate professionally with school personnel and Concorde Education reps about attendance, scheduling, and program needs, responding to issues the same day.
  • 6Follow all school policies, site procedures, and emergency protocols, arriving on time with a plan for each session.
  • 7Track and report student progress and program feedback to support continuous improvement of the curriculum.

Requirements8

  • 160+ completed college credits or equivalent professional experience in youth instruction or recreation.
  • 21+ year coaching, teaching, or leading youth sports, fitness, or recreation programs, such as camps, after-school, or community leagues.
  • 3Experience working with children or adolescents in schools, camps, or community settings, demonstrating strong classroom management and leadership.
  • 4Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • 5Reliable, professional, and organized work habits, including punctuality and preparedness for each assignment.
  • 6Preferred: certification as a teacher, CPR/First Aid, or degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or sports management.
  • 7Preferred: personal training certification (e.g., NASM, ACE) or prior athletic experience coaching youth teams.
  • 8Must pass a background check and any required clearances per school district policies.
