Software Test Engineer, Elevator Controls
Overview
As a Software Test Engineer at Nidec Motor Corporation, you will own test design and automated regression for elevator controller software, managing builds and releases for products used worldwide. You will join MCE, the largest independent elevator control manufacturer, and work onsite in Sacramento. You will collaborate with R&D, tech support, and manufacturing to drive quality and process improvement. This role lets you impact safety-critical systems with Jenkins, GitLab, and C++.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design test parameters and quality checks for elevator controller software, owning test procedures for Nidec products.
- 2Build automated regression suites using Jenkins and GitLab to validate code changes daily.
- 3Maintain build scripts and pipelines to compile, package, and deploy artifacts across Windows and Linux.
- 4Own the release process for software artifacts, coordinating with R&D and manufacturing teams.
- 5Act as a liaison between tech support, customers, and R&D, providing Tier II support for elevator PC applications.
- 6Coordinate implementation of approved engineering changes (ECOs), working with design, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- 7Train internal teams on new product launches and change processes, documenting best practices and workflows.
- 8Review and automate documentation, build steps, and test procedures to improve efficiency and reliability.
- 9Provide Tier II support and troubleshooting for software issues, escalating as needed.
- 10Develop and maintain C# and C++ test tools to enhance test coverage and productivity.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or computer engineering, or 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- 22-4 years of experience as a software test or build engineer.
- 3Proven experience in software development with C# or C++.
- 4Experience with Python, Java, or other high-level languages is a plus.
- 5Familiarity with Windows and Linux platforms.
- 6Experience with Jenkins, GitLab, StarTeam, compilers, debuggers, and build automation tools.
- 7Knowledge of Microsoft Visio for diagramming workflows.
- 8Strong knowledge of engineering and testing procedures.
- 9Ability to manage projects independently and in a team environment.
- 10Excellent problem-solving skills and high-level technical writing skills.
