Social Media Manager, Education Policy & Nonprofit Communications
Overview
Own ACE Scholarships social channels to elevate stories of scholar success and donor impact at scale. Lead weekly content planning, craft narrative-driven posts, and manage the CEO’s professional presence as a national education reform thought leader. Collaborate with campaigns, partners, and internal teams to drive engagement and advocacy in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment. This role combines strategic content leadership with hands-on execution and live-event coverage.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and manage a comprehensive content calendar aligned with campaigns and events to drive engagement and donations
- 2Craft high quality original content for posts, threads, video scripts, and graphics to amplify scholar stories and policy wins
- 3Grow and maintain ACE’s main social accounts across X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn with measurable audience growth
- 4Lead executive thought leadership for the CEO on LinkedIn and X, including ghostwriting and live updates at events
- 5Attend key events to provide real time social coverage and post live updates featuring speaker messages and donor impact
- 6Develop social plans for major events with live coverage, post-event amplification and reporting
- 7Monitor communities daily, respond to engagement, and manage real time moderation
- 8Coordinate with partners on campaigns to ensure aligned messaging across channels
- 9Use tools like Sprout Social or Hootsuite to schedule, publish and report on performance
- 10Ensure content adheres to nonprofit best practices and brand guidelines
Requirements10
- 15+ years of progressive social media management experience in nonprofit, education, advocacy or related fields
- 2Strong journalistic or professional writing background with a portfolio of story-driven content
- 3Experience managing multiple platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and growing audiences organically
- 4Experience building and managing executive thought-leadership channels for a CEO
- 5Excellent project management skills and ability to own strategy while executing at high volume
- 6Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, marketing or related field
- 7Experience with video content creation/editing and YouTube channel management (preferred)
- 8Knowledge of education policy and current events in K-12 space (preferred)
- 9Experience working in a national or multi-state organization (preferred)
- 10Technical aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite, social platforms, Sprout or MarTech project management tools
