You will own the full Shipping and Returns process at a Staples retail store in Tempe, AZ, handling Amazon returns, UPS packages, and customer drop-offs. This role sits within a fast-moving retail team of hourly associates, reporting to the store manager. You'll manage the shipping counter independently during your shifts while supporting the broader store. What You'll Do9
- 1Run all Full-Serve Shipping and Unpackaged Returns activities, including greeting customers, assessing package dimensions, and preparing UPS pick-ups.
- 2Handle Amazon returns at the counter, scanning QR codes, verifying contents, and issuing drop-off receipts.
- 3Identify customer shipping needs, explain options between UPS, USPS, and FedEx, and recommend the best service for their budget and timeline.
- 4Maintain a clean, organized shipping area, restocking boxes, tape, and labels to keep processing efficient.
- 5Use basic selling skills to suggest extras like Staples boxes, bubble wrap, and Print & Marketing services during each transaction.
- 6Process online order pick-ups and maintain accurate inventory of held items in the back room.
- 7Assist with store cleanliness and organizing shelves during low-traffic periods.
- 8Support the team during holiday peaks by opening more lanes and monitoring the return queue.
- 9Resolve minor customer disputes with a calm, cooperative approach, escalating only when necessary.
Requirements6
- 11+ years in retail, customer service, or package handling where you dealt directly with the public.
- 2Confirmed ability to lift, push, and move packages weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance.
- 3Strong eye for detail so you can verify shipping labels, process returns accurately, and spot damaged goods.
- 4Comfort with basic math to calculate dimensions and shipping costs on the fly.
- 5Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store coverage needs.
