• 1Develop skills to oversee department personnel to ensure work requirements are met while minimizing costs and setting department priorities
• 2Assist in creating or revising standard operating procedures and ensure personnel compliance with company policies plant-wide safety and employee conduct rules
• 3Gain experience in interviewing hiring disciplining training and terminating department personnel
• 4Become proficient in effective communication with internal and external customers as needed
• 5Follow up on manufacturing-related issues to completion and address concerns professionally
• 6Acquire knowledge of effective employee relations coaching and development
• 7Master the process of making employment decisions and resolving employee issues through problem-solving
• 8Understand how to balance quality productivity cost safety and morale to achieve positive results and strive for continuous improvement
• 9Become familiar with supervising departmental performance measures including visual controls
• 10Provide regular progress reports to the manager and develop the ability to set department priorities
• 11Help create and execute MPS objectives meet MPS commitments and work within guidelines
