
Senior Staff Accountant, US GAAP & ERP Systems
Overview
Senior Staff Accountant owns the daily and period-end accounting close with a focus on accuracy and compliance at scale. They are part of the finance team and will work with operations and audit partners to ensure timely reporting. This role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration, process improvement, and technical accounting expertise. The position is based in Saint Paul, MN and reports to the Controller, with opportunities to influence system enhancements and internal controls.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and record journal entries to support month‑end close and accurate P&L and Balance Sheet that comply with US GAAP
- 2Design and perform general ledger reconciliations and financial consolidation activities
- 3Lead or support cross‑functional projects including systems upgrades and process improvements
- 4Assist with annual audit processes by coordinating with external auditors and preparing schedules and documentation
- 5Partner with operations and Finance to resolve issues and improve efficiency and data reliability
- 6Develop and update accounting process documentation to reflect best practices
- 7Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and system‑related matters
- 8Drive continuous improvement in project management and accounting processes by sharing insights from other locations
- 9Support tax filing processes and regulatory compliance as needed
- 10Identify discrepancies using historical data and reporting insights to support decision making
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
- 25+ years of experience in general financial accounting and reporting
- 3Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting principles
- 4Demonstrated experience in general ledger accounting, financial consolidation, technical accounting research, and audit procedures
- 5Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF/IFS, and data modeling
- 6Strong project management capabilities and organizational skills
- 7Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- 8Ability to learn and navigate ERP systems
- 9Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
