Senior Software Engineer - Production Engineering
Overview
You will own the CI and test-orchestration platform for FlashArray and FlashBlade, managing the systems that control code merges and release operations at scale. Working with a team of engineers across San Jose, you will build automation and pipelines that deliver fast, reliable feedback for hundreds of developers. This role combines hands-on engineering with operational responsibility: you will design services, encode quality gates directly into CI systems, and run the infrastructure that ships products to market. You will drive improvements in developer experience and release velocity, supported by a culture that values innovation and growth.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build and extend CI and test-orchestration pipelines using Python, Go, and Jenkins to deliver fast, reliable feedback for engineers.
- 2Develop developer-facing CLIs and APIs that simplify onboarding and configuration of release workflows, reducing setup time from days to hours.
- 3Encode quality gates into CI, defining thresholds for run rates, pass rates, and flakiness that block merges when not met.
- 4Create dashboards and metrics that give clear visibility into CI health, using SQL to analyze failures and drive targeted fixes.
- 5Instrument CI services with logging and alerting to reduce time-to-detect and time-to-resolve incidents, and participate in on-call rotations.
- 6Lead cross-functional projects with TPMs and engineering teams to improve release reliability and developer experience.
- 7Support hardware NPI qualification by enabling testbeds and CI workflows that validate new hardware on schedule.
Requirements6
- 18+ years in software engineering, production engineering, SRE, or DevOps, building and owning backend services or tooling.
- 2Proficiency in Python or Go, plus strong Bash skills for automation and diagnostics in Linux environments.
- 3Hands-on experience with Jenkins including pipeline-as-code, Groovy DSL, and managing multi-job CI workflows.
- 4Strong SQL and analytics skills, using metrics to analyze and improve CI and release processes.
- 5Solid Linux fundamentals and the ability to debug issues across OS, network, storage, and application layers.
- 6Experience supporting hardware NPI programs, including test planning and issue triage with engineering and lab teams.
