Senior Software Engineer Loop
Overview
Loop seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead complex cross-functional initiatives from architecture to production. You will build scalable solutions, shape technical direction, and elevate engineering practices. This role emphasizes AI integration where every engineer uses Claude Code and Cursor as the default development partner. The position offers flexibility across multiple locations and leverages a tech stack including PHP Laravel Vue.js MySQL DynamoDB Kubernetes AWS Serverless.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and implement high-quality features across backend services APIs lambdas and frontend components
- 2Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and own trade-offs
- 3Start development with AI agents and evaluate outputs with equal rigor as manual code
- 4Lead small to medium technical initiatives by providing direction surfacing dependencies early and keeping stakeholders informed
- 5Mentor junior engineers through code reviews pairing and direct feedback
- 6Make reversible decisions quickly while flagging irreversible ones early
- 7Establish operational trust by ensuring predictable delivery and improving system effectiveness
- 8Propose enhancements to code quality processes and follow through on improvements
- 9Track production behavior independently to catch regressions before support tickets arise
- 10Evaluate architectural trade-offs and make defensible decisions based on business context
- 11Drive cross-functional alignment between product management design and engineering teams
Requirements10
- 15+ years building web applications backend services and APIs
- 2Strong PHP Laravel experience preferred
- 3Use AI agents as default starting point and describe workflow for prompting evaluation and review allocation
- 4Own what ships regardless of generation method
- 5Have a point of view on AI utility versus pitfalls and guide team navigation
- 6Track code behavior in production to detect issues proactively
- 7Demonstrate ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and make defensible choices
- 8Examples of leading technical initiatives mentoring engineers and aligning cross-functional teams
- 9Operate with intensity and maintain high standards for self and others
