Senior Reliability Engineer - Array Technologies
Overview
Lead reliability engineering for solar tracker products at Array Technologies in Phoenix Arizona. Drive reliability strategy and collaborate across Engineering Quality Manufacturing and Program Management. This role improves product durability and reduces failure risk. Report to Director of Reliability.
What You'll Do42
- 1Reliability Engineering & Analysis Lead DFMEA development and continuous improvement for new and existing products
- 2Support Design for Reliability during product development and NPI
- 3Develop and maintain reliability models including MTBF RBD Weibull and failure trend analysis
- 4Establish and monitor reliability KPIs such as field failures warranty trends and product degradation
- 5Participate in design reviews and provide risk based reliability recommendations
- 6Develop and execute reliability test strategies including HALT/HASS ALT environmental fatigue corrosion thermal cycling and mechanical loading tests
- 7Support Design Verification Plans and Reports and qualification planning
- 8Define statistically appropriate sample sizes and confidence levels for validation testing
- 9Coordinate and oversee internal and third party laboratory testing
- 10Analyze test results and recommend design improvements to enhance durability and performance
- 11Analyze field failures customer returns and warranty trends to identify systemic reliability issues
- 12Develop and maintain warranty forecasting inputs and support reserve modeling
- 13Partner with Finance Quality and Engineering to improve warranty prediction accuracy
- 14Feed field performance lessons learned back into product development
- 15Lead or support structured root cause investigations using 8D FTA and Weibull methods
- 16Support corrective and preventive actions for recurring failures
- 17Improve reliability processes data collection and reporting practices
- 18Create reliability dashboards and performance metrics as needed
- 19Integrate reliability engineering into stage gate product development processes
- 20Partner with Design Engineering to improve product robustness early in design
- 21Support Sustaining Engineering with field issue resolution and design improvements
- 22Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality on recurring performance issues
- 23Provide reliability input for new technology evaluations and product changes
- 24Support qualification activities aligned with UL IEC ASTM and ISO standards
- 25Assist with certification testing and technical documentation
- 26Stay current on evolving standards related to solar tracker systems and outdoor structural applications
- 27Establish and standardize reliability engineering processes tools and best practices
- 28Mentor engineers and cross functional teams on reliability principles
- 29Contribute to long term reliability strategy and roadmap development
- 30Support growth of the Reliability function as business needs evolve
- 31Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Science Reliability Engineering or related field
- 325+ years of experience in reliability product development validation or quality engineering within mechanical or electromechanical environment
- 33Experience with DFMEA reliability modeling MTBF Weibull RBD root cause analysis validation testing and accelerated life testing
- 34Familiarity with structured NPI or stage gate development processes
- 35Experience with reliability testing methods and environmental qualification practices
- 36Strong technical communication skills including reports presentations and executive summaries
- 37Ability to analyze field performance data to drive engineering decisions
- 38Preferred Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
- 39Experience in renewable energy solar heavy equipment automotive or outdoor mechanical systems
- 40Familiarity with corrosion mechanisms and environmental degradation
- 41Experience with statistical software Minitab Reliasoft JMP
- 42Six Sigma certification Green or Black Belt or Certified Reliability Engineer CRE
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Science Reliability Engineering or related field
- 25+ years of experience in reliability product development validation or quality engineering within mechanical or electromechanical environment
