Senior Product Engineer, Full-Stack
Overview
You will own new product surfaces end to end, from architecture to launch, at Taxwire, a platform serving hundreds of SMB and mid-market companies with zero churn. You will work with a small team of senior engineers and tax experts to ship features that automate high-stakes compliance workflows. The role combines deep full-stack work with direct customer interaction, and your decisions will shape the platform's scalability and reliability. This position stands out because you'll build systems that handle unpredictable government portals while maintaining accuracy at scale.
What You'll Do8
- 1Ship new customer-facing features using React and TypeScript, from scoping through deployment and iteration.
- 2Own the tax filing pipeline: calculate liabilities, prepare returns, and submit to state portals, including those without APIs.
- 3Build internal tooling for the tax ops team to monitor and control high-volume filings, reducing manual review.
- 4Drive architecture decisions for the dashboard, onboarding flows, and reporting tools, ensuring clean interfaces.
- 5Work with the CEO and Head of Product to design and launch new products that expand into new customer segments.
- 6Automate data and approval workflows for tax reviews, handling edge cases that break naive automation.
- 7Embed with tax ops to identify automation breakdowns and implement solutions that preserve accuracy.
- 8Participate in architectural discussions and push back on technical or product direction when needed.
Requirements6
- 15-10+ years of engineering experience, including shipping full-stack products on small teams.
- 2Strong command of React and TypeScript, with production apps you've built from scratch.
- 3Proven experience owning features end-to-end, from design and backend contracts to user delivery.
- 4Good product taste: able to spot UX issues and fix them without designer input.
- 5Comfort with ambiguity: can turn a rough problem statement into a working solution.
- 6Direct and honest communication when disagreeing with technical or product direction.
