Senior Mobile QA Engineer, Telecom & VoIP Testing
Overview
Own the end-to-end quality assurance strategy for consumer-facing mobile apps across Android, iOS, and wearables, serving 5M+ monthly active users. You will lead test planning, execution, and automation for voice, VoIP, and telephony features across 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi networks. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, and network specialists to ship releases with measurable reliability. This role stands out by combining deep telecom domain validation with hands-on device lab management, giving you direct influence on product quality.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design comprehensive test plans for Android, iOS, and wearable applications, covering functional, regression, and performance scenarios within the first 90 days.
- 2Build automated test suites using Appium, Espresso, and XCTest to validate critical user journeys and telephony features.
- 3Execute field testing for VoIP, VoLTE, and Wi-Fi calling across carrier networks and devices, documenting defects with clear reproduction steps.
- 4Drive the adoption of CI/CD pipelines for mobile QA, integrating test execution into Jenkins and GitLab.
- 5Own the device lab strategy, managing physical devices, simulators, and cloud-based device farms like BrowserStack.
- 6Lead defect triage sessions, prioritizing issues based on severity and user impact, and coordinate with development teams for resolution.
- 7Partner with network engineers to validate cross-layer performance, using tools like Wireshark and Scapy for packet analysis.
- 8Mentor junior QA engineers on mobile testing best practices and telecom-specific scenarios.
Requirements8
- 17-10 years of hands-on experience in mobile QA engineering, with a focus on Android and iOS platforms.
- 2Proven track record testing telephony features: VoIP, VoLTE, CS, and IMS across 2G/3G/4G/5G networks.
- 3Strong command of test automation frameworks: Appium, Selenium, Espresso, XCUITest.
- 4Experience with network simulation tools: Shunra, Network Link Conditioner, and Wireshark.
- 5Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, and CircleCI.
- 6Familiarity with cloud device testing platforms: BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or AWS Device Farm.
- 7Solid understanding of mobile app performance testing and crash analysis using Xcode Instruments and Android Studio Profiler.
- 8Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with development, product, and network teams.
