Overview

Lead the people, processes, and technologies that produce high-accuracy, high-reliability metal implant components for Edwards Lifesciences, a global structural heart innovation company. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians using laser cutting, heat treatment, electropolishing, and automated inspection systems. Partner with R&D, NPD, and commercial teams to scale novel processes across a global footprint. Drive automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives, ensuring compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Manage and develop a team of engineers and technicians, building technical depth and a culture of safety and compliance.
  • 2Oversee pilot manufacturing operations, scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation to support multiple internal customers.
  • 3Sustain and manage metals manufacturing technologies, ensuring robust process capability and alignment with long-term strategies.
  • 4Lead integration, validation, and scale-up of metals processing technologies with global manufacturing sites.
  • 5Drive automation and lights-out manufacturing, including robotic load/unload, chemical monitoring, and machine connectivity.
  • 6Partner with Engineering, IT/MES, and suppliers on Industry 4.0 initiatives like data-driven machining and digital work instructions.
  • 7Ensure maintenance documentation, spare parts management, and equipment performance monitoring to maximize uptime and OEE.
  • 8Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D on process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and equipment planning.
  • 9Support new product development by coordinating prototype machining and providing DFM/A input.
  • 10Launch, stabilize, and transfer novel manufacturing processes to the commercial network with full accountability for schedule and quality.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2Demonstrated experience leading medical device manufacturing and/or NPD teams.
  • 38+ years of experience in medical device manufacturing/NPD.
  • 4Strong technical knowledge of complex equipment, automation, process controls/validation, metrology, and tooling.
  • 5Experience with Nitinol component/stent manufacturing processes.
  • 6Proven experience implementing automation, robotics, or lights-out manufacturing.
  • 7Experience with commercial transfer and scale up.
  • 8Proficiency with ERP/MES systems, CAM/CAD tools, and machining data systems.
  • 9Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • 10Financial acumen related to tooling assets and equipment cost management.
