Senior Java Spark Developer, Market Risk
Overview
You will own the design and build of distributed data platforms for market risk analytics at a global bank. The platform processes trillions of rows daily, and your work will directly feed real-time risk engines. You will join a team of 10 engineers and partner with quants and risk managers. This contract role demands deep Java and Spark expertise to handle the scale and complexity of financial risk data.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and implement scalable Spark pipelines that process market risk data across multiple asset classes.
- 2Build high-performance Java services to serve risk calculations to downstream systems.
- 3Optimize data partitioning and query performance for Spark jobs handling 5+ TB daily.
- 4Collaborate with quants to translate risk models into production-grade code.
- 5Debug and tune distributed systems for latency and throughput.
- 6Drive code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices for Spark and Java.
- 7Ship a new risk aggregation module within the first 90 days.
Requirements6
- 15+ years building distributed systems with Java and Spark.
- 2Proven experience with Spark 3.x and Java 11+.
- 33+ years in market risk or financial risk analytics.
- 4Experience with HDFS, Kafka, or Cassandra.
- 5Strong SQL skills and query tuning.
- 6Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Salary Insight
$164 - $185k per year
