Senior IPv6 Network Engineer, Dual-Stack & Multicast
Overview
You will own IPv6 Assessment, Design, and Testing for enterprise and service provider networks, driving 7+ migration initiatives. Quadtec Solutions pairs you with senior engineers on a federal-adjacent project, where you architect dual-stack solutions and lead multicast routing upgrades. You will mentor junior staff and sit on CAB reviews, making this a hands-on technical leadership role. Your work directly enables secure, compliant IPv6 transitions at scale.
What You'll Do9
- 1Assess existing network infrastructure for IPv6 readiness across Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- 2Design scalable IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack addressing plans and OSPFv3/BGP routing policies.
- 3Develop multicast routing designs for IPv6 using PIM-SM, IGMP, and MLD.
- 4Create HLD/LLD documents with topology diagrams, IP allocation, and test plans.
- 5Execute test plans for dual-stack, tunneling (6in4, GRE), and translation (NAT64/DNS64).
- 6Validate multicast functionality, QoS, and routing protocol behavior in lab PoCs.
- 7Troubleshoot complex dual-stack issues and deliver root-cause analysis.
- 8Produce migration procedures with change management and rollback steps.
- 9Mentor junior engineers on IPv6 best practices.
Requirements8
- 17+ years of network engineering experience in enterprise or service provider environments.
- 2Hands-on IPv6 addressing, routing, and migration strategy experience.
- 3Proven design and operation of IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack networks.
- 4Strong knowledge of PIM-SM, IGMP, MLD in both IPv4 and IPv6.
- 5Cisco CCNP (Enterprise or Service Provider) or equivalent.
- 6Proficiency with OSPFv2/v3 and BGP including IPv6 address families.
- 7Hands-on Cisco routing and switching platforms.
- 8Ability to produce clear network design documents, test plans, and assessment reports.
Salary Insight
