Senior Full Stack Engineer, Financial Services API & Platform
Overview
React and backend work across services powering Trajan Wealth's digital platforms at scale. You will design and operate full stack features from front-end to API gateway and data integrations. Collaborate with product, security, compliance, and SRE to meet regulatory standards while delivering fast, reliable experiences. This onsite role at our Scottsdale HQ blends product velocity with platform reliability and strong engineering quality.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build end-to-end features across React/TypeScript frontend and Node.js / Java / Python backends with robust data persistence and event-driven integrations
- 2Own the API lifecycle including RESTful and event-driven APIs, versioning, deprecation and OpenAPI/Swagger docs
- 3Configure and tune the API gateway platform (MuleSoft or equivalent) to ensure secure, scalable access
- 4Implement authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT) for financial services and consent management
- 5Partner with security and compliance to meet SOC 2, PCI DSS, GLBA, GDPR / CCPA, SOX requirements and external audits
- 6Build observability into systems with structured logs, tracing, metrics, and SLOs, and maintain high availability during on-call rotations
- 7Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear technical designs and trade-offs with stakeholders
- 8Drive incident response and postmortems to durable system improvements
- 9Collaborate with product teams to deliver features that balance risk, scope, and timelines
- 10Mentor mid-level engineers and uphold engineering standards through code reviews and pair programming
Requirements10
- 15+ years building frontend and backend systems in professional software engineering roles
- 2Strong experience with a modern frontend framework (React preferred; Vue or Angular acceptable) and TypeScript
- 3Proficiency in backend languages common in financial services (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#)
- 4Hands-on experience designing and operating APIs in production at scale (REST and GraphQL or gRPC or event-driven)
- 5Direct experience with API management platforms (MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management or similar)
- 6Knowledge of identity and access standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, API keys)
- 7Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS)
- 8Experience with relational and non-relational databases and data consistency in financial workflows
- 9Ability to work in regulated environments with audits, change management, and incident handling
- 10Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders
