Overview
Uber launches AV Labs to accelerate autonomous technology ecosystem. Senior AV Fleet Technician will scale and optimize fleet operations for AV data collection projects. You will act as on-site technical lead bridging hardware engineering software engineering and daily fleet operations. This role drives technical rollout across new cities. It is a high-impact initiative evolving as we scale.
What You'll Do5
- 1Scale-Out & Site Bootstrapping: Launch data collection in new cities overseeing technical setup from vehicle hardware to data offload. Adapt playbooks for local nuances train local contractor staff and build operational cadence before handing off steady-state control.
- 2Advanced Diagnostics: Serve as final on-site escalation point for complex hardware and software faults performing deep root-cause analysis beyond standard guides.
- 3Upfit Validation & Serviceability: Validate hardware/software integration on newly upfitted vehicles evaluate practical depot-level serviceability and translate engineering documentation into actionable maintenance workflows.
- 4SOP Architecture & Fleet Standardization: Design test and document core triage calibration and maintenance playbooks conducting cross-site technical audits to ensure uniform execution and resolve local bottlenecks.
- 5Process Automation & Tooling: Identify operational bottlenecks on depot floor and test or develop local scripts and tooling to automate repetitive tasks such as firmware deployment and accelerate data collection fleet throughput.
Requirements5
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 23-5 seasons leading bootstrap leads NPI technicians or landing team members for new operational sites or data centers
- 3Proven track record of documenting complex technical workflows writing SOPs and training technical teams to execute them safely
- 4Deep familiarity with networking concepts sensor integration LiDAR Radar Cameras IMU or automotive data links CAN Automotive Ethernet GMSL
- 5Willingness to travel up to 50% to bootstrap new data collection cities and conduct cross-site technical audits
