Senior Fleet Software Engineer
Overview
You will own the observability, alerting, and automation that let a small team operate a growing fleet of robots at scale. Our stack spans Python, Go, C++, and Rust across cloud and edge systems. You will report to the infrastructure lead and collaborate with operations, response, and software teams. This role builds the tooling that makes the fleet easier to run as it scales, from telemetry to dashboards.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and own fleet observability: the metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards that give the team full visibility into live robots.
- 2Build telemetry and data pipelines that reliably move robot data to the cloud for monitoring, debugging, and model training.
- 3Ship fleet-health dashboards and reports that make performance and regressions easy to spot.
- 4Develop alerting and on-call tooling that catches issues fast and routes them to the right responder with the right context.
- 5Automate diagnostics and incident capture so responders start debugging instead of gathering data.
- 6Drive down manual, error-prone work and reduce operational toil across the fleet.
- 7Contribute to CI/CD pipelines that deliver code reliably from development to the fleet.
- 8Automate OTA software and firmware updates across the fleet, with staged rollout, monitoring, and rollback.
- 9Architect provisioning and configuration tooling to keep the fleet consistent and reproducible.
Requirements6
- 13+ years of software engineering, with real ownership of internal tooling, infrastructure, or reliability systems.
- 2Strong proficiency in Python plus at least one systems language: Go, C++, or Rust.
- 3Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- 4Experience with a major cloud (AWS or GCP), containers, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- 5Solid distributed-systems fundamentals across data transport, monitoring, and fault tolerance.
- 6Ability to debug across the full stack, from a device on the network to a service in the cloud.
