Overview
You will own the cleanliness and safety of a cancer center environment, handling chemotherapy waste and biohazard materials while serving as a role model for the EVS team. What You'll Do8
- 1Respond to cleaning requests via the computerized tracking system and complete assigned tasks within the scheduled shift.
- 2Perform specialty cleaning and infection control protocols in clinical areas, including isolation rooms and sterile zones.
- 3Use industrial scrubbers and buffers to maintain floors, including stripping, refinishing, and carpet extraction.
- 4Lead and train less experienced associates in proper cleaning techniques and chemical use to ensure safety and compliance.
- 5Conduct waste removal and disposal of biohazardous materials per safety guidelines.
- 6Maintain equipment by logging usage and reporting maintenance needs to prevent downtime.
- 7Audit patient care areas for cleanliness and safety, correcting issues or escalating urgent concerns to supervisors.
- 8Document tasks and infection control logs to support regulatory compliance and quality metrics.
Requirements7
- 11-2 years of environmental services experience in a healthcare or institutional setting.
- 2Working knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and healthcare cleaning techniques.
- 3Basic math skills for calculating chemical dilutions and quantities.
- 4Verbal and written communication skills to document tasks and coordinate with staff.
- 5Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing requests in a fast-paced medical environment.
- 6Must pass background check and drug screening; Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for behavioral health roles.
- 7Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, with shift differentials offered.
