Senior Electronic Technician, Water Treatment Instrumentation
Overview
You will own the installation, operation, and maintenance of sophisticated instrumentation and remote telemetry systems at the Trinity River Authority, supporting water and wastewater treatment for over 50% of Texas's population. You will lead a team of Electronic Technicians, calibrate critical equipment, and respond to failures that keep the plant safe. This role stands out for its direct supervision duties and the hands-on work with proprietary flow instrumentation and telemetry units.
What You'll Do10
- 1Install, repair, and calibrate instrumentation and controls for water/wastewater treatment and flow measurement, including telemetry systems.
- 2Respond to critical equipment failures as the first line of defense, restoring operations.
- 3Maintain and calibrate in-shop test equipment, ensuring accuracy for all repairs.
- 4Analyze job requirements for material, labor, and expertise, and update repair procedures.
- 5Use technical manuals, engineering drawings, and one-line diagrams to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
- 6Monitor and maintain records of work performed, supporting work order management systems.
- 7Calibrate safety equipment, including confined space entry gear and arc flash protection, and enforce safety guidelines.
- 8Recommend spare parts inventory and assist in drafting bid specifications for electronic equipment.
- 9Directly supervise Electronic Technicians, training them and evaluating performance, and assist on complex jobs as needed.
- 10Deputize for the Chief Electronic Technician when required, assuming full operational responsibilities.
Requirements10
- 1Four years of related experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated electronic equipment.
- 2High school diploma or GED, with sixty college credit hours preferred; Associate's Degree in electronics or two-year trade school preferred.
- 3Ability to calculate mathematical equations for calibration and troubleshooting tasks.
- 4Valid Texas driver's license.
- 5State of Texas Journeyman electrical license preferred; Class II Collection System or Class C Water Operator license from TCEQ, or ability to obtain within two years.
- 6Thorough knowledge of A.C., D.C., analog, and digital electronics, and industrial instrumentation process control.
- 7Knowledge to support, operate, and maintain proprietary flow instrumentation and remote telemetry units, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- 8Working knowledge of operating systems and application software for operational support.
- 9Expert knowledge of state and federal confined space entry regulations and safety equipment upkeep.
- 10Ability to read and apply information from operation manuals, schematics, blueprints, and safety data sheets.
