Senior Electrical Engineer - Long Range Platform
Overview
Zipline is the world's largest drone delivery service operating on four continents. This role focuses on designing electrical subsystems for a long-range autonomous logistics platform. The ideal candidate will own electrical design for volume production and lead cross-functional efforts to deliver hardware that balances practical constraints with elegant solutions.
What You'll Do5
- 1Own the electrical design for volume production through a design cycle including requirements, prototype, schematic capture, layout, and validation
- 2Make impactful design decisions daily while collaborating with reliability mechanical embedded and systems engineers
- 3Lead trade studies understand competing design priorities and provide direction for risk mitigation
- 4Collaborate cross-functionally during concept design specification design integration validation production and deployment
- 5Travel occasionally to support supplier visits product deployment and field validation
Requirements7
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 24 years experience designing complex PCBAs including circuit analysis schematic capture PCB layout packaging integration production and board-level validation
- 3Experience with mixed signal design and high speed design lithium ion battery pack design BMS power distribution and BLDC motor drives
- 4Proficiency with basic embedded communications buses and higher speed communications protocols
- 5Enthusiasm for fast-paced collaborative environments and willingness to work in engineering labs with oscilloscopes multimeters and network analyzers
- 6Clear communication skills to explain technical challenges to engineers and non-engineers
- 7Eligibility to work in the US and availability to work at Zipline's South San Francisco office
