You will own facility and engineering strategy for cell therapy manufacturing across AstraZeneca's network. You define user requirements, design standards, and contamination control approaches for cutting-edge cell therapy facilities. Collaborate with Global Real Estate and Engineering to evaluate expansion opportunities. Lead engineering studies for capital investments and new technology adoption. Harmonize F&E operating models and drive Digital and AI solutions across the supply network. This role shapes the future of personalized medicine manufacturing at a global scale.
What You'll Do10
- 1Establish user requirements and facility design standards for cell therapy manufacturing.
- 2Develop risk-based contamination control approaches for open and closed processing, gowning regimes, and environmental monitoring.
- 3Collaborate with Global Real Estate and Engineering to evaluate network expansion and provide cell therapy-specific site selection input.
- 4Lead engineering studies to inform capital investments, site master planning, and new technology adoption.
- 5Participate in capital execution governance, including planning and reporting.
- 6Identify facility-related risks across sites and develop mitigation strategies for critical utilities and environmental controls.
- 7Harmonize F&E operating models by standardizing processes, resources, and ways of working across sites.
- 8Support deployment of Digital and AI solutions for Facilities & Engineering.
- 9Implement new technology for site teams, including training and adoption playbooks.
- 10Support SHE management review and identify compliance trends and improvement opportunities.
Requirements8
- 110+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech facilities engineering, with 5+ years in a network or multi-site role.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil/Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master's preferred.
- 3Direct experience with cell therapy, biologics, or ATMP facility design strongly preferred.
- 4Experience developing user requirements and design standards for GMP facilities.
- 5Expert knowledge of contamination control for aseptic and cell therapy environments.
- 6Familiarity with cleanroom design (ISO classifications) and HVAC systems.
- 7Knowledge of BIM, CMMS, environmental monitoring systems, and energy management platforms.
- 8Professional engineering licensure (PE/CEng) desirable.
