Overview
Own the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of MPC's enterprise data platforms, serving teams across Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and SRE. Lead modernization and automation for cloud-native systems including Databricks, Azure, Cognite, and streaming technologies. Mentor engineers, set operational standards, and drive compliance with governance controls. What You'll Do9
- 1Lead platform scalability and performance tuning for Databricks and Azure Lakehouse, ensuring high availability for mission-critical analytics.
- 2Design and implement self-service provisioning and deployment workflows using IaC and CI/CD, reducing manual effort and standardizing patterns.
- 3Establish telemetry standards, runbooks, and incident response procedures, strengthening observability across streaming and integration platforms.
- 4Collaborate with architects to build resilient platforms, embedding security and governance controls into daily operations.
- 5Drive adoption of new technologies and tools for platform operations, including Cognite and observability solutions.
- 6Analyze capacity, utilization, and cost drivers with FinOps partners, defining KPIs, SLAs, and SLOs for platform health.
- 7Mentor less experienced engineers in operational best practices, promoting consistent engineering standards.
- 8Facilitate technical reviews and decisions for complex platform scenarios, ensuring compliance with data regulations.
- 9Engage with vendors and stakeholders to meet platform needs, advancing maturity through codified lessons learned.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering, with senior-level expertise.
- 2Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud data platforms, including Azure and Databricks.
- 3Hands-on experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment.
- 4Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, including IAM, MDM, and data classification.
- 5Demonstrated success leading platform modernization and automation initiatives in production environments.
- 6Familiarity with streaming technologies and observability tools for real-time data processing.
- 7Experience with Cognite or similar industrial data platforms is preferred.
- 8Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
