Senior Citizen Van Driver, Adult Day Care
Overview
You will drive frail senior citizens with dementia and Alzheimer's to and from our adult day care club in River Edge, NJ. No CDL needed. You will operate a van on a fixed route, providing safe, compassionate transport for up to 10 passengers per trip. You'll work with a team of caregivers and report to the transportation coordinator. This role stands out for its direct impact on improving quality of life for elderly adults.
What You'll Do8
- 1Transport seniors to and from the club using a passenger van, ensuring safe boarding and disembarking.
- 2Assist passengers with entering and exiting the van, including lifting and supporting those with limited mobility.
- 3Maintain a clean and safe vehicle, performing daily pre-trip inspections and reporting any issues.
- 4Communicate respectfully with passengers, families, and club staff to ensure a positive experience.
- 5Follow assigned routes and schedules, adjusting for traffic or weather to minimize delays.
- 6Document daily trips, passenger counts, and any incidents in the transport log.
- 7Attend to passenger needs during transit, such as securing seat belts and wheelchairs.
- 8Collaborate with club staff to coordinate pickups and drop-offs.
Requirements8
- 1Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- 21+ years experience driving a van or similar vehicle.
- 3Ability to lift, carry, and push equipment and passengers exceeding 50 lbs.
- 4Excellent customer service skills with a patient and compassionate demeanor.
- 5High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6Must be willing to work Sundays and holidays.
- 7Comfortable driving in urban and suburban traffic.
- 8Ability to interact cordially with seniors and persons with disabilities.
