Senior Accountant, Supply Chain & GAAP Reporting
Overview
Own the full month-end close for a rapidly growing mid-market supply chain organization in Baltimore, reporting directly to the Controller. This role exists due to company growth and succession planning, positioning you to drive Great Plains enhancements and BlackLine reconciliations. You will partner with AP/AR teams to streamline transaction flow and support cash forecasting across a multi-entity, asset-heavy environment. This is a hands-on technical role with a clear path to leadership, designed for an accountant ready to scale with the business.
What You'll Do9
- 1Drive the month-end close by preparing journal entries, managing accruals, and performing balance sheet reconciliations in Great Plains and BlackLine.
- 2Own revenue reconciliations and financial analysis to deliver accurate business performance insights each close.
- 3Partner with AP/AR teams to resolve transaction issues and implement process improvements in Prophix and SAP.
- 4Build cash forecasting models and treasury reports to support liquidity management and planning.
- 5Prepare state and local tax filings and support compliance activities across multiple entities.
- 6Deliver variance analysis and management reports for executive leadership each month.
- 7Support internal and external audits with clean documentation and ongoing support.
- 8Identify and automate manual accounting workflows using AP automation tools to cut close time by 20%.
- 9Shadow Controller and Assistant Controller functions to accelerate leadership development.
Requirements10
- 13+ years of total accounting experience with increasing responsibility in public accounting or audit.
- 2Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge applied in a multi-entity, operationally driven business.
- 3Hands-on month-end close execution including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- 4Proficiency in ERP systems like Great Plains, Prophix, BlackLine, SAP, or Sage.
- 5Exposure to cash forecasting, tax reporting, audit support, and process automation.
- 6Experience in asset-heavy, logistics, transportation, or multi-entity environments.
- 7Demonstrated leadership potential and a clear interest in a Controller-track role.
- 8Strong general ledger and balance sheet management capabilities.
- 9Ability to analyze complex financial data and present clear variance and management reporting.
- 10Comfort working in a growth-oriented environment with evolving processes.
