What You'll Do9

  • 1Operate CCTV and radio systems to monitor inmate activity and coordinate security across all posts.
  • 2Maintain precise inmate counts and unit rosters, updating running count sheets and logs at shift changes.
  • 3Respond to panic and fire alarms, dispatching officers to incidents and coordinating emergency procedures.
  • 4Process new inmates: booking, fingerprinting, photographing, and securing property with full accountability.
  • 5Conduct warrant checks and verify release eligibility by reviewing court commitments and sentence calculations.
  • 6Supervise key control and electronic access panels to secure all entrances and exits.
  • 7Handle inmate visitation: verify identification, manage sign-ins, and ensure no contraband enters.
  • 8Provide administrative support: data entry, filing, report writing, and answering phones.
  • 9Audit case files and interact with courts, agencies, and immigration as required for program processing.

Requirements8

  • 1High school diploma or GED.
  • 21+ years in corrections, security, or computer operations.
  • 3U.S. citizen.
  • 4Obtain TCIC/NCIC Certification within 6 months.
  • 5Obtain TCOLE Jailer's License within 6 months (physical participation required).
  • 6Knowledge of jail security systems and procedures.
  • 7Proficiency in record keeping and office software.
  • 8Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
