Secure Development Manager GM - Cybersecurity Leadership
Overview
Lead the Secure Development & Application Security function at General Motors to embed security controls into engineering workflows. What You'll Do11
- 1Lead the Secure Development & Application Security function including team direction and workforce planning
- 2Define and drive roadmap for security controls covering static testing dynamic testing API security AI security and runtime resilience
- 3Own functional performance through metrics using data to prioritize investments and reduce risk at scale
- 4Partner with engineering and platform teams to integrate security controls into development pipelines
- 5Guide leaders through technical decisions removing roadblocks and ensuring consistent execution
- 6Develop talent and strengthen succession pipelines while influencing organizational change
- 7Collaborate with product and platform teams to align policy tooling detection remediation and governance
- 8Drive adoption of developer-friendly security practices like automation and policy as code
- 9Establish cross-functional relationships across software development lifecycle stages
- 10Manage operational goals and KPIs to guide prioritization and continuous improvement
- 11Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and secure-by-design principles throughout the software lifecycle
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Cybersecurity or related field
- 25+ years of experience in cybersecurity application security software engineering security or secure software development
- 33+ years leading people including hiring coaching and performance management
- 43+ years leading or scaling security domains such as static testing dynamic testing API security threat modeling or runtime protection
- 5Proven experience embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- 6Experience owning operational metrics and driving improvement initiatives
- 7Master’s degree preferred in relevant field
- 88+ years enterprise-scale cybersecurity software security leadership
- 9Familiarity with developer-friendly practices like security automation and self-service enablement
- 10Knowledge of regulated environments third-party risk and secure-by-design approaches
- 11Certifications such as CISSP CSSLP GIAC or cloud security credentials
