Overview
Own direct patient care on a Neuro Acute/Spine unit at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, a high-acuity setting in Atlanta, GA. You will deliver individualized, evidence-based care as part of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating with Nurse Managers and supported by the Shared Governance Model. This PRN role demands strong clinical judgment and adaptability, with day shifts available. You'll serve as a preceptor and mentor, contributing to a culture of excellence and safety.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and analytical thinking to individualize care for Neuro Acute/Spine patients.
- 2Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity and adapts to population-specific characteristics (age, gender, disease).
- 3Partner with patients and families through bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, and real-time teaching to keep them informed and aligned with care goals.
- 4Coordinate safe, high-quality care documentation and interdisciplinary communication (rounds, case reviews) to ensure a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
- 5Drive performance improvement initiatives, participating in shared governance and leading evidence-based practice projects to enhance patient outcomes.
- 6Complete all competency assessments and mandatory education, including population-specific training for Neuro Acute/Spine.
- 7Precept and mentor new nurses and students, modeling professional nursing practice and fostering a healthy work environment.
- 8Support evidence-based practice and nursing research, participating in value analysis for patient care products and data collection to answer clinical questions.
- 9Plan proactive care across the continuum, collaborating with care managers to reduce readmissions and avoidable days, and optimizing use of human and material resources.
Requirements10
- 1Associates or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
- 2Active RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact) required.
- 3BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required upon hire.
- 45+ years of direct patient care experience preferred, especially in neuro or spine settings.
- 5Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills.
- 6Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- 7Proficiency in basic computer skills and clinical technology.
- 8Ability to function decisively and respectfully in emergencies and fast-paced environments.
- 9Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
- 10Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
