Overview

You will own the full lifecycle of clinical data analysis at a top-tier academic medical center, turning EHR, claims, and research network data into analysis-ready datasets. You will work alongside faculty in the Division of Medical Informatics, shaping how researchers use data across the institution. Your work will directly support high-impact publications and grant proposals, and you will build tools and workshops that teach others to leverage clinical data. This role stands out because you will not just analyze data, but also drive the educational mission of the division, creating reusable R and SAS packages and tutorials.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Build custom analysis-ready datasets from EHR, claims, and clinical research network sources, cleaning and structuring raw data for analysis.
  • 2Write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness for research questions.
  • 3Perform statistical analyses using R or SAS, applying methods appropriate to the study design and data structure.
  • 4Prepare statistical analysis plans and reports, documenting methodology and results for publications and grant proposals.
  • 5Maintain detailed documentation of data extraction and analysis steps, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with institutional standards.
  • 6Create user-friendly tutorials, use cases, and hands-on materials for workshops, enabling other researchers to access clinical databases.
  • 7Develop reusable data processing and analysis tools, such as R packages or SAS macros, to streamline future research projects.
  • 8Collaborate with faculty to identify data needs and design analyses that align with research goals.

Requirements6

  • 1Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Outcomes Research, or a related field.
  • 22+ years of direct work experience analyzing clinical databases such as EHR, claims, or research networks.
  • 3Demonstrated ability with SQL and R or SAS, including proficiency in data manipulation and statistical modeling.
  • 4Experience creating analysis-ready datasets from structured and unstructured clinical data.
  • 5Working knowledge of statistical analysis plans and report generation for research studies.
  • 6Familiarity with data documentation best practices for reproducible research.
