What You'll Do26
- 1Promote mission vision and values of SCA
- 2Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status
- 3Interpret monitor data and describe pathophysiology
- 4Apply scoring systems such as Aldrete Score
- 5Develop individualized perianesthesia plan of care
- 6Prepare for and manage recovery from anesthesia general monitored anesthesia care regional local
- 7Communicate patient status throughout perianesthesia continuum
- 8Provide acute pain and comfort management
- 9Administer medications safely using the 8-rights
- 10Maintain wound integrity and tissue perfusion
- 11Ensure normothermia postoperatively
- 12Protect patient from infection
- 13Manage comorbid conditions and fluid balance
- 14Educate patients and support persons on care expectations
- 15Involve patient in perioperative decisions
- 16Protect patient rights dignity and privacy
- 17Deliver age-specific culturally competent ethical care
- 18Evaluate patient progress and transfer care as needed
- 19Provide accurate handoff reports
- 20Delegate tasks per state law
- 21Document nursing care completely
- 22Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- 23Participate in quality review and performance improvement
- 24Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth
- 25Act as patient advocate
- 26Comply with facility policies and participate in safety huddles
Requirements6
- 1Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- 2One year Pre Op or PACU experience
- 3Current state licensure in good standing
- 4Basic Life Support certification within 90 days
- 5Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification within 90 days
- 6Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification if pediatric care included
