React Native Developer, Mobile & Monorepo
Overview
You will own the mobile application architecture and development lifecycle for our cross-platform product, scaling to millions of users. Your stack centers on React Native, Turborepo, and MobX, driving predictable state management and reusable component libraries. You will collaborate with our senior engineering team to shape the developer experience and build robust tooling. This role stands out for its focus on quality-first testing with Jest and type-safe styling via vanilla-extract.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and scale the monorepo with Turborepo or Nx, establishing shared libraries and task pipelines.
- 2Architect application state with MobX, ensuring predictable data flow and maintainable design patterns.
- 3Implement type-safe styling using vanilla-extract, including theming and design tokens for a cohesive UI.
- 4Write comprehensive unit and integration tests with Jest, enforcing a quality-first mindset across the codebase.
- 5Drive code reviews and pair programming sessions to uplift the team's engineering standards.
- 6Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks in the React Native app, focusing on startup time and rendering efficiency.
- 7Collaborate with product designers to translate Figma prototypes into accessible, responsive components.
- 8Own the CI/CD pipeline for mobile releases, integrated with the monorepo's task runners.
- 9Ship a major release with a complete revamp of the navigation and state management within the first 90 days.
Requirements7
- 15+ years building mobile applications with React Native and TypeScript.
- 23+ years managing monorepos with Turborepo or Nx, including dependency boundaries.
- 3Expert-level MobX state management, including complex store hierarchies and reactive streams.
- 4Proficiency in vanilla-extract and CSS-in-JS with design tokens.
- 5Strong testing background: Jest for unit and integration tests, with mocking and code coverage.
- 6Experience optimizing React Native performance (memory, startup, rendering).
- 7Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
