Radiologic Technologist, Outpatient Imaging
Overview
You will perform routine and special-procedure radiographic exams for an outpatient imaging team in Harrison, NY, serving a diverse patient population. You will own image quality, radiation safety, and patient care from positioning to final review. Joining a collaborative team of radiologists and technologists, you will use ARRT registration and BLS certification to deliver precise diagnostics. This role offers weekday hours, Image Gently and Image Wisely protocols, and room to train students.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform routine diagnostic radiographs and selected special procedures with ARRT-standard technique.
- 2Position patients correctly according to protocol, adapting for age and condition.
- 3Verify imaging orders and complete documentation in RIS/PACS and electronic systems.
- 4Produce high-quality images and review studies for technical quality.
- 5Apply radiation safety principles including Image Gently and Image Wisely pledges.
- 6Assist physicians and radiologists during procedures, including contrast administration with IV certification.
- 7Educate patients and families on exam steps and expectations.
- 8Perform equipment QA, calibrations, and report malfunctions promptly.
- 9Provide clinical instruction to radiography students and mentor less-experienced staff.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent, plus ARRT registration in Radiography (RT(R)).
- 2New York State DOH Radiologic Technologist license or qualifying Limited Permit upon hire.
- 3AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- 4New York State DOH IV certification within 180 days of hire.
- 5Certificate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program or hospital-based program.
- 6Strong knowledge of diagnostic radiography and radiation safety protocols.
- 7Proven patient-positioning and image-quality assessment skills.
- 8Effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
- 9Ability to work in a high-volume setting with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- 10Willingness to complete Image Gently and Image Wisely pledges during orientation.
