Overview

This co-op owns quality improvement across a manufacturing value stream, supporting safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. You will drive continuous improvement projects using lean principles and tools, working hands-on with production processes and inspection. You will join a cross-functional team of quality engineers and collaborate with suppliers and customers. This role offers direct exposure to FMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical Analysis in a real manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Drive continuous improvement projects across the value stream, focusing on production processes and waste reduction using lean tools.
  • 2Assist in daily inspection, sorting, fixture design, and assembly activities to ensure product quality.
  • 3Conduct measurement system analysis on gauges and review technical data, drawings, and work instructions to resolve quality issues.
  • 4Troubleshoot valves and test stands to identify and fix quality problems.
  • 5Analyze performance data and validate supplier change requests to improve supplier quality for new and existing products.
  • 6Investigate returned material and verify customer complaints through root cause analysis.
  • 7Collect and analyze test data, performing statistical analysis to track quality metrics.
  • 8Create and update documentation such as Control Plans, FMEAs, work instructions, and process flows.
  • 9Support internal and customer audits by closing open findings and implementing corrective actions.
  • 10Lead small project groups and collaborate with quality engineers in team meetings.

Requirements8

  • 1Current student enrolled in an Engineering program (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or related).
  • 2Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • 3Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • 4Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 5Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to lead small project groups.
  • 6Hands-on aptitude for inspection, measurement, and troubleshooting.
  • 7Basic understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • 8Familiarity with quality tools like FMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical Analysis.
