Overview
QA/QC Manager oversees quality assurance and control for color cosmetics and skincare across the product lifecycle. Owns the Quality Management System, regulatory compliance, and supplier/audit programs. Collaborates with R&D, manufacturing, and testing partners to uphold safety, performance, and brand quality. Occasional travel to audit CMs and warehouses differentiates this role.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain a robust QMS for a DTC beauty brand and document SOPs for development, manufacturing, and testing.
- 2Audit contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure adherence to GMP and regulatory standards and implement corrective actions as needed.
- 3Oversee QA and QC testing of bulk formulations and finished products to ensure safety and efficacy and manage third party labs for microbiological, stability, and compatibility testing.
- 4Implement incoming inspection protocols for packaging, raw materials, and finished goods to prevent quality issues.
- 5Investigate and resolve quality issues including non-conformance, consumer complaints, and deviations with root cause analysis and CAPA programs.
- 6Stay current with global cosmetic regulations (FDA, EU) and support regulatory submissions including SDS and PIF documentation.
- 7Train and mentor cross-functional teams on quality standards and best practices and lead CAPA initiatives.
- 8Coordinate travel to CMs and warehouses for line trials, audits, and AQL inspections as needed.
- 9Collaborate with R&D and Product Development to embed quality considerations early in the product lifecycle
- 10Manage relationships with third-party labs and testing facilities to ensure timely, accurate results.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of QA/QC experience in beauty or personal care with color cosmetics or skincare
- 2Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or related field
- 3Experience establishing and maintaining a QMS and writing SOPs for product development and manufacturing
- 4Strong knowledge of cosmetic testing methods including microbiological, stability, and compatibility testing
- 5Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations (FDA, EU) and regulatory documentation such as SDS and PIF
- 6Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive CAPA initiatives
- 7Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier/audit visits
- 8Experience managing relationships with contract manufacturers and third‑party testing labs
- 9Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- 10Strong communication and documentation skills
