Overview

You will own psychiatric care for 24,000 annual clients at the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, a large public behavioral health system. You join a medical team of 35 full-time psychiatrists, APRNs, and PAs. You split time between outpatient and jail diversion programs, delivering evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention. You collaborate with multidisciplinary staff across residential, emergency, and forensic services. Your work directly supports adults with SPMI, children with SED, and co-occurring disorders.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations and create treatment plans with psychotropic medications.
  • 2Prescribe and manage medications, ordering labs and reviewing co-morbid conditions.
  • 3Support therapists in emergency psychiatric evaluations and crisis interventions.
  • 4Consult with medical and non-medical staff on complex cases, including forensic populations.
  • 5Lead or participate in clinical, administrative, and programmatic meetings.
  • 6Document all clinical interactions in detail within the electronic health record.
  • 7Coordinate psychiatry training for residents and interns.
  • 8Provide individual, family, and group therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.

Requirements10

  • 1Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited school.
  • 2Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency including two years of outpatient medication management.
  • 3Current Virginia medical license at hire.
  • 4Board certification eligibility from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • 5Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the DEA.
  • 6Pass criminal background check, CPS registry check, and sanction screening.
  • 7TB screening upon hire and annually.
  • 8Must not opt out of Medicare provider status.
  • 9Available for emergency essential duties including inclement weather.
  • 10Preferred: forensic psychiatry experience, community mental health with SMI/substance use, and child/adolescent/older adult expertise.
