Overview
You own daily production and packaging operations on 2nd shift at Dessert Holdings' Humble, TX facility, achieving SQDCM targets across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and motivation. You lead a team of direct reports, applying Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools to drive line performance and corrective actions. Your role bridges shift-to-shift collaboration and hands-on problem solving in a high-volume dessert environment. This position reports to the Operations Manager and demands strong leadership and analytical skills.
What You'll Do10
- 1Direct production and packaging lines, monitoring process steps, control points, and equipment to maintain flow and quality.
- 2Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools to identify root causes and improve line performance.
- 3Lead and contribute to ongoing CI initiatives as both team leader and team member, driving measurable gains.
- 4Build cross-functional and shift-to-shift relationships to transfer knowledge and improve overall plant efficiency.
- 5Coach and develop direct reports through feedback, performance reviews, and on-the-job training to meet objectives.
- 6Enforce safety and food quality compliance by educating personnel on control points and equipment, ensuring adherence to policies.
- 7Prepare and manage budgets for operations, maintenance, and labor expenses, controlling costs while meeting targets.
- 8Track and report on SQDCM metrics, initiating corrective and preventive actions when standards are not met.
- 9Coordinate with maintenance and sanitation to minimize downtime and ensure equipment readiness.
- 10Support continuous improvement by participating in daily stand-ups, Gemba walks, and Kaizen events.
Requirements9
- 13-5+ years of related work experience in industrial food manufacturing, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- 2Bachelor's or Associate technical degree preferred; combination of education and experience required.
- 3Demonstrated leadership, team building, and conflict resolution skills in a production environment.
- 4Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools and initiatives.
- 5Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
- 6Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook with basic mathematical skills.
- 7Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with diverse teams and levels.
- 8Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- 9Shift flexibility including extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
