Processing Equipment Reliability Technician, Columbus OH
Overview
You own the reliability of processing equipment at a high-volume food processing plant in Columbus, Ohio. Working onsite with a maintenance team, you keep graders, conveyor systems, washers, and dryers running at peak performance. You diagnose breakdowns, lead root-cause analysis, and implement fixes that prevent downtime. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with a focus on continuous improvement and safety.
What You'll Do9
- 1Complete daily post-operational inspections on graders, conveyor systems, washers, and dryers, flagging any issues before they cause downtime.
- 2Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on assigned machinery, swapping worn parts and lubricating components to extend equipment life.
- 3Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics and hands-on troubleshooting.
- 4Lead root-cause analysis on downtime events and implement error-proofing controls to prevent recurrence.
- 5Set up machines with correct packaging materials and verify accurate date coding on each run.
- 6Manage parts inventory and keep precise maintenance records in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- 7Perform welding and metalwork to fabricate or repair machine parts and guarding.
- 8Complete facility and building maintenance tasks, from fixing lighting to repairing structural wear.
- 9Follow all safety and biosecurity rules, including lockout/tagout and fall protection procedures, and report violations immediately.
Requirements9
- 13+ years of hands-on experience in machine repair, machine tool operations, or welding.
- 2Working knowledge of valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors, and gearboxes.
- 3Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
- 4Strong mechanical troubleshooting and metalworking abilities.
- 5Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- 6Comfort with basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- 7Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to perform job-related internet research.
- 8Organized and detail-focused, with the ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems with urgency.
- 9Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to safety.
