Principal Software Engineer II Cloud
Overview
Lead design and delivery of enterprise cloud platform solutions for Walgreens onsite Chicago location. This is a highly influential hands-on engineering role supporting Microsoft Azure and private OpenStack cloud environments. You will architect complex multi-region availability zone solutions and drive improvements in infrastructure deployment capabilities.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design infrastructure solutions for applications and business teams deploying into Azure or private cloud
- 2Act as both a hands-on engineer and technical architect
- 3Architect complex multi-region availability zone cloud platform solutions in support of business needs
- 4Work closely with Enterprise Architecture Information Security and internal business partners
- 5Develop and improve infrastructure deployment capabilities through Harness IDP Infrastructure as Code
- 6Ensure solutions meet architecture security compliance and operational standards
- 7Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers without formal people-management responsibility
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in Engineering Software Engineering or related field
- 2High School Diploma GED and at least 11 years of experience in Engineering Software Engineering or related field
- 3Experience writing code for highly complex and strategic online applications microservices or mobile applications
- 4In-depth knowledge of algorithms systems architecture and Unix Linux C++ Java or Node
- 5Experience with Kubernetes particularly Azure Kubernetes Service AKS and Istio
- 6Containerization and microservices environments using Terraform and Ansible
- 7Cloud networking knowledge including network flows firewalls load balancers DNS service meshes VNETs and related components
- 8At least 5 years of direct leadership indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership
- 9Willingness to travel up to 10 percent of the time for business purposes within state and out of state
