
Principal Power Electronics Architect
Overview
You will spearhead the structural design and practical realization of sophisticated, high-energy power systems for rugged maritime operations. Working within an innovative R&D atmosphere, you will drive the development of SiC-based converters and DSP-controlled architectures. Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, and controls engineers to deliver power-dense solutions. This role offers direct impact on next-generation naval platforms.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design high-density SiC-based power converters for maritime propulsion and auxiliary systems.
- 2Lead the end-to-end development of DSP-controlled power electronics from concept to production.
- 3Model and simulate thermal and electromagnetic behavior using ANSYS and PSCAD.
- 4Specify and select high-voltage components including IGBTs, capacitors, and magnetic components.
- 5Oversee the implementation of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508) in power architectures.
- 6Conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing with HIL setups to validate control algorithms.
- 7Collaborate with mechanical engineers on ruggedized packaging for harsh marine environments.
Requirements7
- 110+ years designing high-power electronics for maritime or similar rugged applications.
- 2Expert proficiency with SiC or GaN power semiconductor technologies.
- 3Hands-on experience with DSP or FPGA-based digital control systems.
- 4Proven track record in thermal management of high-density power modules.
- 5Familiarity with IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 functional safety standards.
- 6Strong background in PSCAD or MATLAB/Simulink for power system simulation.
- 7Knowledge of military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461) for EMI compliance.
Salary Insight
