Principal Engineer, Secure Network Services
Overview
This role owns the strategy, architecture, and delivery of secure network solutions across Wells Fargo data centers and Secure Network Interconnect sites. You will lead end-to-end lifecycle ownership from planning through integration of next-generation secure network technologies. As a Principal Engineer, you will influence senior stakeholders and mentor engineers to elevate technical depth and operational maturity. This position drives measurable improvements in network reliability and service resilience at enterprise scale.
What You'll Do6
- 1Design and architect secure network solutions for Wells Fargo data centers and Secure Network Interconnect sites, delivering scalable and resilient infrastructure.
- 2Lead the resolution of highly complex network challenges, applying advanced analytical and inductive thinking to produce long-term, large-scale solutions.
- 3Translate strategic business objectives and technology opportunities into actionable engineering solutions, providing vision and direction to leadership.
- 4Champion industry best practices and emerging technologies, recommending innovations that enhance operations and provide competitive advantage.
- 5Engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise, serving as an expert advisor on secure network architecture.
- 6Mentor and elevate other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement in network services.
Requirements10
- 17+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work, training, military, or education.
- 27+ years in load balancing technologies (server-side and GSLB) with vendors like F5, AVI, A10, NetScaler, AWS ELB, Azure Load Balancer, or firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- 35+ years of software development experience, or equivalent.
- 45+ years of advanced scripting with Ansible, Terraform, Python, YAML, Java, or PL-SQL.
- 52+ years with source version control using GitHub or similar.
- 6Experience creating and updating technical design documentation for engineering teams.
- 7Agile methodology experience.
- 8Ability to identify key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively.
- 9Experience in a large enterprise environment.
- 10BS/BA degree in information technology or equivalent work experience.
Salary Insight
$159 - $305k per year
