The Press Secretary will lead a fast-paced high-volume DC-based communications office. This is not an entry-level position requiring a mature experienced communicator who thrives under deadline pressure and collaborates within a team. The role involves shaping media narratives and managing press requests efficiently.
What You'll Do6
- 1Serve as primary point of contact for reporters and bookers developing relationships with local in-state and national press
- 2Plan organize and staff press events interviews and press conferences for the Senator
- 3Work on and off the record to shape media narratives and manage high volume press requests accurately and efficiently
- 4Draft edit press releases statements talking points and briefing memos under tight deadlines with high accuracy
- 5Build relationships with TV bookers producers digital influencers creators and podcasters
- 6Collaborate with Communications Director Deputy Communications Director and other communications and legislative team members to plan strategy
Requirements5
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 23-5 seasons leading Capitol Hill campaigns or political communications
- 3On-the-record experience with existing reporter relationships
- 4Comfort working across traditional media ecosystems as well as digital creators and podcasters
- 5Strong writing editing detail-oriented proactive and reliable under deadline pressure with collaborative mindset and sense of humor
