Preschool Teacher's Aide, Early Childhood Education
Overview
You will assist the lead teacher in supervising and managing a class of 10-12 children aged 2.5 to 5 years at Fairfax Presbyterian Preschool's play-to-learn program. You'll join a team of 5-day educators in a 65+ year legacy preschool. This role offers $15-$17 per hour based on education and experience, with paid time off and FCPS holidays off. You'll grow your skills in early childhood education while supporting a nurturing, play-based curriculum.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assist the lead teacher in supervising 10-12 children during daily activities and transitions.
- 2Support the implementation of the play-to-learn curriculum, engaging children in hands-on learning.
- 3Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, adhering to NAEYC standards.
- 4Communicate daily with parents and caregivers about their child's progress and activities.
- 5Help with meal and snack times, ensuring children's nutritional and hygiene needs are met.
- 6Participate in on-site teacher workdays and professional development sessions.
- 7Adapt activities to meet the individual needs of children, including those with special needs.
- 8Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan and prepare lesson materials and classroom setups.
Requirements8
- 1Meet the educational, health, and safety requirements of the state licensing agency and NAEYC.
- 21+ year experience working with preschool-aged children in a childcare or educational setting.
- 3CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the first month.
- 4High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in early childhood education preferred.
- 5Pass a background check and health screening as required by state regulations.
- 6Demonstrate sensitivity and maturity in relating to children and adults.
- 7Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs in a classroom setting.
- 8Flexibility to work 5 days per week during school hours, with FCPS holidays off.
