Postdoctoral Investigator Physical Oceanography
Overview
Conduct independent research on coastal circulation using existing and future datasets focused on in situ and remote estimates of ocean velocities. Perform field deployments and analyze observational datasets. Collaborate with engineers and research associates to develop new observation methods. Analyze cross-shelf exchange and stirring processes. Contribute to interdisciplinary projects evaluating wind farm impacts on carbon cycling and North Atlantic Right whale habitats.

- 1Design and execute studies on coastal circulation using historical and real-time datasets
- 2Deploy and maintain oceanographic instruments including High Frequency Radar and ADCPs
- 3Analyze large-scale ocean velocity patterns through statistical modeling
- 4Develop novel observational techniques for measuring coastal currents
- 5Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate remote sensing platforms
- 6Present findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
- 7Maintain detailed records of field operations and data processing workflows
Requirements7
- 1Ph.D. degree with oceanographic sensor experience
- 2Proven ability to conduct fieldwork involving equipment installation and maintenance
- 3Strong proficiency in Python and AWS services
- 4Experience with acoustic Doppler current profilers and meteorological sensors
- 5Demonstrated success in collaborative research environments
- 6Understanding of coastal ocean dynamics and continental shelf processes
