Pharmacy Technician Oncology Infusion Center
Overview
You will own medication order entry and inventory control for an outpatient oncology infusion center at Stanford Health Care, processing 100+ orders daily. You'll work under pharmacist supervision, mastering EPIC and automated dispensing systems. This role demands precision and adaptability in a high-acuity setting. What You'll Do8
- 1Enter medication orders into EPIC and operate Pyxis for accurate preparation and storage under pharmacist supervision.
- 2Maintain medication inventory by placing and receiving stock replacement orders, and inspecting deliveries for accuracy.
- 3Perform routine inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and update records in CII Safe.
- 4Operate and maintain automated inventory and dispensing machines or systems, including Omnicell.
- 5Monitor expiration dates, removing expired items to minimize waste and ensure compliance.
- 6Document inventory transactions and maintain accurate records in line with CDPH regulations.
- 7Prepare, package, compound, and label non-sterile drug products with appropriate final pharmacist checks.
- 8Collaborate with pharmacists and nurses to prioritize urgent medication needs for oncology patients.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 26 months of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, or Pharmacy Technician Externship at Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
- 3IPH Intern Pharmacist or CA Licensed Pharmacy Technician certification required.
- 4Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics.
- 5Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations; weighing, measuring, and documentation with accuracy.
- 6Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to pharmacy practice.
- 7Knowledge of methods and procedures for proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies.
- 8Ability to work with devices, information systems, and automated equipment like EPIC and Pyxis.
